ABUJA - The special adviser
to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina, wrote on his facebook page that the President
has nominated the chairman and commissioners for the Nigerian Communications
Commission (NCC) as at Tuesday, 2nd August.
According to Adesina,
President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Senate to confirm nominees into
positions of Chairman, Executive Commissioner, and Non Executive Commissioner
of the NCC.

In a letter dated August
2,2016, sent to President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the following
were nominated:
1. Senator Olabiyi
Durojaiye (South West) was nominated as Chairman
2. Mr Sunday Dare (South West) got the nod as
Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management. He was an aide to Bola Ahmed
Tinubu, when Tinubu was the Lagos state governor.
Those nominated as
Non Executive Commissioners were;
1. Aliyu Sa’idu
Abubakar (North East)
2. Clement Omeiza
Baiye (North Central)
3. Chief Okoi Ofem
Obono Obla (South South)
4. Pastor Ezekiel Yissa (North Central)
5. Senator Ifeanyi
Ararume (South East).
According to Adesina,
the nominations are in accordance with section 8(1) of the Nigerian
Communications Commission Act 2003.
Also, earlier today,
President Buhari made another surprising appointment. Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi was
appointed as the new Post Master General/Chief Executive Office of Nigeria
Postal Services (NIPOST).
His appointment was
approved by the president himself. This was confirmed in a statement signed by
Bolaji Adebiyi, the Director, Press, of the office of the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal.
