Commotion broke
as two obituaries for the same man, using
the same photograph, appear side-by-side in a newspaper. This is no printing
error
But before
anyone fires the person responsible for publishing the obits at the Press of
Atlantic City newspaper, rest assured that it was completely intentional.
Leroy Bill
Black, from New Jersey in the USA, died at home on August 2 after losing his
battle lung cancer.
Upon further
inspection, you'll notice that one describes him as being survived by his
'loving wife Bearetta Harrison Black' and the other says he's survived by 'long-time
girlfriend Princess Hall' (sic).
It seems his
girlfriend might have also had a little nickname for him, as she names him
'Leroy "Blast" Black' rather than 'Bill'.
She might have
a bit more cash to spend, as hers is a little longer - but despite having more
words it completely fails to reference his wife. Awkward!!
Thankfully they
aren't trying to throw him separate funerals, as both obits mention the same
details.
A spokesperson
for the funeral homes told PhillyVoice that the separate obituaries were
printed because "the wife wanted it one way and the girlfriend wanted it
another way."
Apparently
everyone was aware that they were doubling up, so it seems the wife and
girlfriend do know about each other. One thing's for
sure, Leroy was a very well-loved man.
Standards certainly don't exist for some folks.
